I always experience a great feeling when I pore over a nautical chart. The contours, colors, and markings never get old – I can literally visualize a trip and the potential trouble I’m liable to find myself in ahead of time. This weekend is going to be my first big trip with Blue Magic and I’m pretty excited about it. We’re heading down the Intracoastal Waterway from Charleston to Savannah. I’ve got a crew of two others with me, and it looks like it might be a bit rainy. I’ve been sitting here poring over charts the last two days and cautiously eyeing Tropical Storm Emily. The path’s looking pretty good this afternoon so we ‘re going to go for it. It looks like there’s going to be some strong current and shoaling along the way, but nothing my marine diesel can’t handle. If you haven’t noticed, I didn’t take many pictures of Blue Magic yet. This weekend I hope to change that. Next week I hope to feature a lot more pictures of the boat itself and our trip down the ICW. Until next week, enjoy the weekend and wish me luck with the thunderstorms!
